New agricultural assessment framework for sustainability

Investments in agriculture: Assessment Framework for sustainability

The Wageningen University (WUR) has developped for the Dutch Ministry of Economic affairs an Assessment Framework for investments in agriculture. This brochure provides a framework to make a rapid assessment of agri-environmental sustainability issues associated to investments. It allows governmental grant advisers and others to capture the awareness of applicants regarding sustainability issues related to investments and to obtain an indication of potential risks and risk mitigation measures.

This brochure contains a comprehensive set of questions for each agri-environmental sustainability theme (soil, water, biodiversity, climate change and animal welfare). Per theme, objectives and attention points for good performance are indicated.

The OECD-FAO Guidance for Responsible Agricultural Supply Chains of March 2016 is the basis for the publication. De Guidance provides companies in the agricultural food chain with a guide to observe existing standards of responsible business conduct and to encourage due diligence in the agricultural supply chains.
