Final Statement IAATW vs. Uber published

The Final Statement in the notification from IAATW against Uber was published on May 21, 2025. IAATW is an international federation of trade unions and driver organizations.

With this Final Statement, the NCP concludes the procedure and makes recommendations to the company. The notification concerned Uber's due diligence responsibilities regarding the working conditions of Uber drivers in various countries around the world.

The notification was closed without an agreement, as there was too little trust between the parties to engage in dialogue and work toward solutions. The Final Statement shows that, under the OECD Guidelines, Uber has responsibilities for the working conditions of drivers who perform work via the Uber app. This applies regardless of whether they have employee status or are self-employed. The NCP issues several recommendations to Uber, including on the sufficiency of earnings for drivers, transparent rules for account deactivation, and the importance of two-way  communication with stakeholders.
